Summer Programs 2023-2024


Summer Activity Mini-grants are available for Okeechobee County children ages 0-18.
The form can be requested by emailing Toni Wiersma at [email protected]. Agencies must provide a summer program request on the correct form. They can receive the form from the Children’s Service Council starting immediately. All summer requests must be received by Tuesday, March 14, 2024 at 4:00 pm. Please either email at the above address (preferable) or deliver to Toni Wiersma at the Okeechobee County School Board Offices, Room 102. This year there is approximately $270,000.00 available for funding. A decision will be made for funding recommendations at the Council during their next scheduled meeting on Thursday, April 11, 2024. Agencies will know if they have been funded and for what amount on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.

In 1990, Okeechobee County residents voted to establish a special district of local government to levy local property taxes to help children reach their full potential. The Children’s Services Council of Okeechobee County makes best use of the tax dollars by investing in children’s prevention and intervention strategies that provide long term savings to the community as well as long term benefits to children and families.
